How to write a press release editors actually publish

Newsroom editors skim hundreds of pitches a day. Here is the structure that gets yours past the first read.

A publishable press release answers five questions in the first hundred words: who, what, when, where and why it matters now. Lead with the news, not your company boilerplate. Keep the headline under twelve words, put a quotable executive statement in paragraph three, and always attach a high-resolution image. Editors reward releases they can publish with minimal editing — write like the newsroom, and the newsroom will print you.
